Professional Subtitling Services

At Andiamo, our professional subtitling services are a critical extension of our clients’ businesses, whether to support their marketing, employee training, or the creation of products and services.

These services, which cover both subtitling and closed captioning, ensure that your video’s message can be understood by non-native speakers both in your country, and in the international territories you trade in.

In a world where 85% of people consume social media content without sound, subtitles and closed captions play a key role in the effectiveness of your marketing. Though, whatever the application of your video content, our services can help to increase views, achieve longer watch times, optimise your video content for search, and improve engagement.

Our 17-minute induction film was fully translated into our selected languages by Andiamo, who not only provided an excellent translation service, but also the vtt file, which made it extremely easy for us to overlay onto our Induction Film. Andiamo! were amazingly easy to deal with. It was as easy as supplying the original film and instructions on what languages we wanted, and we had a quote within 24 hours. Once we placed the order, the work was completed within one week to an extremely high standard. I would recommend Andiamo! to anyone who has a translation/subtitling requirement, as they offer a high quality, efficient service, at a very reasonable price.

Closed captioning

Subtitles vs closed captions

Subtitles are video captions that display translations of your video’s dialogue in a written format, and are intended to help viewers who can hear the audio but cannot understand what’s being said.

Closed captions display the video dialogue, as well as atmospherics such as “[door slamming”], “[applause]” etc, and are used to support viewers with hearing problems, and to improve comprehension for hearing people. They’re usually in the video’s original source language, but not always.

Easing the challenges of subtitling

Preparing for subtitle success

  • If your organisation doesn’t already have an accurate, time coded transcript of your source language video script, we can take care of this critical and time-consuming process on your behalf, to ensure that your translated subtitles align with the source language content and appear on screen at the right time.

Linguistic skills and experience

  • Our subtitling services provide you with skilled translators experienced in rewording or omitting content as required, to offer accurate translations that fall within the established subtitle character restrictions of scripts like Latin, Cyrillic, Japanese, and Chinese.
  • We can also provide a subtitling localisation service, to ensure your translated subtitles are culturally appropriate for your target territories.
  • Our experience translating right-to-left languages, like Hebrew and Arabic, offers you the assurance that subtitles in these languages display correctly in the video.

Subtitling services you can trust

  • No need to worry about the readability of your subtitles, when they break, and the consistency of style, our skilled subtitling team have got you covered.
  • Beyond linguistic skill and subtitling experience, providing burnt-in subtitles requires specialised software, in which our team are experienced users.

End-to-end management and timely completion

  • While AI solutions are often not suitable for commercial use without a thorough post-edit from a skilled human translator, and managing freelance translators can be a difficult and time-consuming process, our fully-managed subtitling services free your team to focus on the important work they do.
  • You can count on your Andiamo! project manager to keep your project on track and on time.

What do our subtitling services look like?

  1. We create a transcription of your source language script, complete with timecodes, and check the transcription against the video to ensure the accuracy of the script and timecodes. Alternatively, If you are able to supply a prepared script, upon hiring our subtitling services, we check the accuracy of your script and check or provide timecodes.
  2. Our team imports the transcription into our translation software, creates translations into your target languages, conducting localisation if required, and ensures that language-specific subtitle character restrictions are applied.
  3. We then send you a bilingual review file and await your clearance or amends. Small, sensible changes are applied at no additional charge.
  4. When you’re happy with the translations, we load them back into our software to create burnt-in video subtitles, or export your subtitle file. When working with burnt-in subtitles, we follow typesetting rules to ensure subtitles are displayed attractively, are broken up in a natural semantic place, and don’t cover visual elements.
  5. We action your amends if required and send the final fine in one of the following formats: High-res MP4 video with burnt-in subtitles, SRT file, WebVTT file, CSV file. Amends made after files are delivered are applied at an additional charge.

Our closed captioning & transcription services

Our subtitling services also cover both source and foreign language closed captioning and transcription. Where closed captions are time coded captions containing video dialogue and atmospherics, transcriptions are time coded video scripts perfect for voice overs, your reference, and future content creation (blogs, social media posts, landing pages etc).

Like our subtitles, we provide closed captions as MP4 videos with burnt-in subtitles, and as SRT files which you can add to your video on your end. We deliver transcriptions as .txt, .csv or .prtranscript files.

The cost of our foreign language CC’s reflects the additional translation process not required for source language closed captioning. Similarly, quotations for foreign language transcriptions reflect an additional cost for a native speaking translator to review and correct the target language transcription we generate.
